About the Diverse Communities Roundtable – Monday 20 June 2022

An Invitation from the Department of Health, Mental Health & Wellbeing Division

The Mental Health & Wellbeing Division at the Victorian Department of Health invites TANDEM to appoint two

lived experience carer representatives to attend the Diverse Communities’ Engagement Roundtable on Monday 20 June 2022 from 1pm to 3pm.

In line with the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, the Department of Health is developing a Diverse Communities’ Mental Health & Wellbeing Framework and Blueprint for Action (chapter 21.6.2, p. 261, volume 3).

As per Recommendation 34(1) of the Royal Commission’s final report, the Department of Health is committed to

ensuring that we are actively engaging with Victoria’s diverse communities in the mental health reforms.

The Diverse Communities team is seeking to consult with lived experience representatives regarding our engagement approach for the development of the Framework and Blueprint for Action. The Roundtable will focus on the who, how, when and where we engage with community members and the sector. Please note that this Roundtable will not focus on the content of the Framework and Blueprint for Action, and instead will focus on engagement.

Lived experience is at the heart of our work, and we value the insights that carers can offer in informing our work. We believe that it will help shape an engagement approach that ensures lived experience carers have a strong voice in the development of the Framework and Blueprint for Action.

    Payment

The engagement is classified as an opportunity that involves collaborating and empowering people using their lived experience, rates as follows:

  • Half day $218 (up to 4 hours)

  • Full day $435 (over 4 hours)

What else you might like to know:

    • Register participants will be provided with peer support during the sessions as well as opportunity to provide written feedback/insights after, if you do not feel comfortable sharing in-session

    • Register participants will be reimbursed for their time in-line with the Pay Scale developed in agreement between the Department of Health, Tandem and VMIAC. Please contact Tandem for further detail

    • Please note, these engagements aim to include wide representation from sector and community stakeholders, including organisations and individuals, and a diversity of opinions and voices.
